Recovery Record and Comenzar de Nuevo Announce Mission-Driven Partnership to Expand Access to Evidence-Based Eating Disorder Treatment for Spanish-Speaking Individuals

San Francisco, California / Monterrey, Mexico – Eating disorders (ED) affect individuals across all cultures and regions, yet access to specialized, evidence-based treatment remains a significant challenge for many Spanish-speaking individuals. In Latin America and among U.S. Latinx communities, these disorders are rising at alarming rates, while cultural stigma, a shortage of trained specialists, and systemic barriers continue to limit access to proper care.

To bridge this critical gap, Recovery Record, the pioneering mobile app designed to support individuals in their eating disorder recovery journey, and Comenzar de Nuevo, Latin America´s leading multidisciplinary center for eating disorder treatment, research, prevention and advocacy, are partnering to translate, adapt, and implement Recovery Record en Español. This collaboration represents a major advancement in the accessibility of digital health tools tailored specifically for Spanish-speaking populations.

Bridging the Gap with Culturally Adapted Digital Tools

By combining Recovery Record’s robust, evidence-based digital platform with Comenzar de Nuevo’s 25+ years of expertise in comprehensive and culturally responsive treatment, this partnership will provide a groundbreaking resource for Spanish-speaking individuals struggling with eating disorders. The newly adapted Recovery Record en Español will be available free of charge for users and will offer an integrated platform for clinicians and patients to enhance treatment outcomes. This new app will feature:

  • Comprehensive Translation: The app´s entire interface, including daily check-ins, affirmations, mood tracking, structured self-monitoring tools, meal logging and clinical outcome assesments, will be translated into Spanish, ensuring that language is never a barrier to recovery.
  • Culturally Tailored Adaptation: Beyond direct translation, the app’s content and interface will be adapted to reflect Latin American cultural nuances and unique social factors that shape eating disorder experiences and treatment.
  • Enhanced Clinician-Patient Communication: The partnership will support clinicians by providing an easy and secure digital platform to facilitate real-time communication between patients and their clinical teams, thus allowing for better data-informed decision making, enhanced treatment coordination, and a more personalized recovery journey.
